“AWESOME!” 2010-05-31
By Jose E. Gallo
At te begin I thought it was a bit expensive, even when AMAZON offered the best price, but when I received the TV I was really impressed. First looks really smart and incredibly thin (less than one inch!), is definitely beautiful. The picture quality is spectacular, when you look at high definition channels cannot believe the sharpness, colors, etc. 3D function is great and even when the supply of these movies are limited, the offer will increase rapidly. In short, the best of tecnology (including internet connection) in a beautiful design. About the sound, is pretty decent, you cannot expect 1000 watts of power (for that are home theaters). For those who love television the spending is more than justified! Definitely I recommend it.
“Great picture. Turn off the Auto Motion Plus” 2010-05-18
By Justin Noel (Boston, MA)
Fantastic picture quality! Easy to set up and use. Shippers were great, unpacked the TV and made sure it worked before they left. The only complaint is I spent my 1st whole night wondering why all my shows looked the Soap Operas. Turns out this is caused by Samsung “Auto Motion Plus” feature that adds extra calculated frames to the video stream. Turning this off made the picture look as I expected (i.e. Law and Order’s proper gritty/jerky camera motion when the detectives are on the street). When this mode is off the tv is still running at 240Hz, but shows the same frames unaltered over and over just like the movie theater does rather than trying to “make stuff up” in between frames. I now only turn on the “Auto Motion Plus” when watching hockey.
“Very good tv. Colors and refresh rate is amazin.” 2010-05-15
By Jia Hao Gan (CA)
One of the best tv I have seen. The surface of the tv is glossy an beautiful. The design looked like it was designed by apple. The back of the panels have enough ports for you to play in anything. I have an 55 inch Vizio LCD and this samsung LED completely destroys the Vizio LCD in quality. It is so light and thin that I lifted upstairs myself. Refresh rate is so high that the pictures looked fake (in a good way). Buying this is like having an art peice in your room. Even the remote controls are state of the art design. It looks metallic and expensive. When my girls come over they look at it and play with it cause it looks that good.
WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS FOR THE 3D. Buy it for the LED TV. This 3D is the worst I have seen. The quality for 3D is so poor that I invited 4 friends over the see it. One got dizzy, the other ones said the picture looks fuzzy. Which is true, they blur the background making the image quality fuzzy just to create a 3D effect that is garbarge to my eyes. If I stared at it for too long my eyes might bleed. I hope this is a firmware issue and that samsung can eventually update this technology…. Even with the “free” 3D glasses they gave me, I can honestly say it was not worth it.
4 Stars for the LED TV. ZERO stars for the 3D technology Samsung invented.
“Great picture, great apps, slight backlighting bleed on black” 2010-05-10
By Martin Babb (Seattle, WA USA)
Great product: excellent picture quality (in HD), great design, great apps (LOVE the Netflix app- quality is unsurpassed) and great remote. Only complaint really is that unless the black level is set so low that the tv is unviewable during the day, there is somewhat significant backlight bleedthrough on large black areas- and not only at the corners or edges. On black title screens there is an odd mottled effect from the uneven blockage of backlighting.
Other than this one problem, which I understand is corrected somehow in the current 8000 series, I couldn’t be happier with my purhchase.
“Be cautious with the UNC Models” 2010-05-07
By J. Miller
This isn’t going to be a full videophile review; only a word of caution. After purchasing this TV, on the second day, the menu would pop up and try to change to component or another mode (like store demo mode) or it would change the viewing settings from “normal” to the “spanish soap opera” looking one while we were watching TV.
The bottom right of the screen has a red light that indicates that the remote is being used and it was constantly flashing during the times it was acting possessed or someone was inadvertently sitting on the remote. After taking out the batteries on the remote, it continued. In fact, it got so bad that we couldn’t do anything with the TV, we couldn’t even turn it off- we had to unplug it for a bit. Then it would be ok for a short while.
After calling Samsung, they directed us to a local TV repair place. We described the problem and they contacted Samsung. The TV repair place didn’t even bother coming out, they wanted to order the part that was necessary to fix it.
Because of this issue and the flashlighting in the corners of the screen, we decided to return it. I honestly didn’t want a TV that had to be worked on after the second day. The TV repair place was really pressing us to get it fixed, but Amazon said they would not take it back if it had any work done on it. So we returned it as is.
We have been waiting for the refund to get the UN46C8000, and I started looking at the reviews and the comments for that one. Apparently, others have been having this problem with the other model as well!
So just be careful. I don’t know how well it works after being fixed, but it appears to be a very common problem with this years models.

Casio EXILIM Camera
This digital camera is at the budget end of the spectrum and definitely aimed at beginner photographers. Having said that it does all the
basic functions well and has 2 main points going for it. Firstly its price is very competitive and secondly it’s ultra thin and compact in
its design. Join me and we’ll take a closer look at exactly what the Casio Exilim EX-Z77 has to offer you.
Other features include a smile shutter that will fire off a shot if the camera detects someone is smiling. Another similar option detects
when the camera and subject is still before taking a shot. You also have access to additional focusing options such as manual focusing and
infinity focusing for homing in on more distant subjects. To add something different to your photos there is also a number of colour filters
available to you. These are black and white, sepia, red, green, blue, yellow, pink and purple. Further refinement of how a photo will look
can be achieved through adjusting levels of sharpness, saturation and contrast.
Casio impresses with its new camera, the Casio Exilim EX-Z770 which is a very special camera and entering with force a very competitive
market! It was shown on the North American market on the 08/8/06. The Exilim EX-Z770 has for maximum resolution 3072 x 2304. It can also be
set at a lower resolution of 2560 x 1920, 2048 x 1536, 1600 x 1200, 640 x 480. The image ratio (width / height) on the Casio Exilim EX-Z770
is 4:3, 3:2, making a camera of 7.1 mega pixels. The internal sensor on the Exilim EX-Z770 is a CCD measuring only 1/2.5 ” using a RGB color
filter. Casio implemented a digital zoom on the Exilim EX-Z770 and included an internal flash which is always essential in a camera .
The next step for the defining digital camera ratings for the Exilim is the performance. Some of the standard tests are for color,
resolution, noise both at manual and auto settings, white balance at auto and manual settings, dynamic range and speed of operation. The
color performance was tested at varying light levels. The V8 didn’t rank so well on any of the performance tests although the white balance
test was well within satisfactory range, particularly at the automatic setting.
More wide angle digital cameras are the Casio Exilim EX-Z100 with 10 megapixels and the Olympus SP-560UZ with 8 megapixels and eighteen times
optical zoom. The SP-560UZ is a SLR camera, but the Casio is a compact digital camera. Either of these digital wide angle cameras would be
good for someone who wants to take exceptional pictures. The cameras have many features that you would expect from a digital camera. The only
thing you need to do is compare the prices and specifications to see which camera would be the easiest for you to use.
The good thing is that this problem has nothing to do with the camera itself! This problem has to do with the computer being used and its
drivers or lack of. You see, drivers communicate with your computer and help it be able to tell the difference between all of the various
devices you are trying to use. When drivers are not working properly or are not there all together, the computer becomes confused and will
cease to work properly.
Modern Television Sets Makes Use of 3D Technology
3D televisions have made the news recently when some were announced at the 2010 CES. Otherwise known as 3D ready televisions, these TVs have the capability to project video at stereoscopic 3D. John Logie Baird first pioneered the televisions in 1928 and they later evolved to include cathode-ray tubes to make them work better and seem more real. Then, in the mid 1930′s, still cameras using the 3D technology became commonplace items.
Currently, the main technologies that led to the producing of 3D video and images on televisions include:
- Polarization 3D, which using lenses that are polarized passively
- Shutter lenses, which are active with alternate frame sequence patterns
- Autostereoscopic lensless displays, or Auto 3D, as it is known to commercial dealers
- Anaglyphic 3D, which is the more common of the technologies and uses the glasses to process
The most utilized of the technologies is the Stereoscopy method, which uses a “two-view” setup. This setup uses cameras that are positioned next to each other to simulate the distance between a person’s eyes then projects two different two different views; one for each eye thus creating the 3D effect.
The modern television sets that make use of the 3D technology still needs the use of special glasses to make the 3D images appear, however these televisions do not constantly transmit the images in 3D; they can switch back and forth between 2D and 3D as needed. Some popular modern 3D televisions include Panasonic, Texas Instruments, Sony and LG, among others. In fact, the LG 3D television was just announced on June 8 2010 as the first ever full LED HDTV that is 3D ready.
The refresh rate of the televisions is typically higher than regular televisions and requires a minimum of 120Hz, however the higher the refresh rate is on a 3D television, the better the 3D effect will appear. This is because the refresh rate is divided between both eyes. For example, the 120Hz refresh rate will project at 60Hz for each eye through the glasses. Even at the lowest refresh rate of 120Hz, these type of televisions still have a refresh rate twice as high as any of the older or “outdated” technologies used in others than 2D televisions do. These televisions also offer the highest resolutions available at either 720p or 1080p.
Additionally, to gain the full HD 2D experience, the user 3D television watcher should utilize a full HD 3D Blu-ray player in conjunction with the television. This will offer not only the best in technology, but also the highest 3D capable viewing experience possible in modern times, in conjunction with a disk made especially for 3D viewing and compatible glasses.
In recent months, many cable and satellite providers have started broadcasting television shows and movies in 3D, so those customers with these type of televisions now have a choice of programming as well as the DVDs and Blu-ray disks. 3D televisions have certainly come a long way since the 1920′s, however while the basic viewing technology has changed, the base 3D technology has not
